Our Asset Management Team is seeking an individual to work in their Equity Private Placements/Convertibles group which originates, structures, and executes private financings across numerous industries. Members of the Equity Private Placements team work closely with a range of sponsor-backed, family-owned, public and privately-owned clients.
The team executes on a variety of private financing transactions, such as growth equity, structured equity, private investments in public equities (PIPEs), co-invest equity and growth / venture debt placements for a variety of situations, including growth capital, acquisition financings, refinancing's, dividend recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts (LBOs) and special situations.
The Equity Private Placements team is seeking to recruit an Analyst to join the team in New York or London. The Analyst will be responsible for supporting Associates and senior members of the team on the day-to-day aspects of transaction and surveillance efforts, as well as conducting broader administrative tasks required to facilitate the efficient running of the team.
The successful candidate will:
- Work side-by-side with a talented, dedicated staff of seasoned capital raising professionals who will provide broad exposure to the many different considerations affecting private placement transactions;
- Assist with evaluating and structuring customized financing alternatives, including cash flow modelling, among other activities;
- Interact with a variety of investors, including venture capital funds, growth equity funds, private equity funds, hybrid capital funds, co-investment funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, asset managers, and family offices, as well as growth / venture debt providers;
- Gain hands-on transaction experience by playing an integral role in the transaction and proactively monitor the business and financial performance of the portfolio counterparty as well as perform research and analysis of market dynamics.
- Broaden their corporate finance and valuation skills, while building a detailed understanding of key developments in both the private and public capital markets;
- Interact with a broad range of businesses across different industries at different points in their corporate lifecycles, all with unique capital needs;
- Build relationships with other sector teams across Arena to ensure close engagement between the Equity Private Placements team and the broader firm.
- Prepare update memorandum with the deal team that will include background information, transaction structure, financial projections, and recommendations.
- Negotiate and carry out amendments, waivers, consents and any other legal documents pertaining to the asset.
- Ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally with C-Suite individuals.
- Responsible for monthly valuation of all assigned financings.

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualities and background:
- Five years of relevant work experience in similar roles within equity or debt capital markets, investment banking, and/or private equity;
- Top academic performer and a quick learner capable of performing in a dynamic environment;
- Proven accounting, finance, 3-statement financial modelling, and analytical abilities;
- Demonstrated leadership qualities that are team-oriented and collegial, including the ability to work cooperatively and constructively with all levels of staff;
- Excellent work ethic and careful attention to detail;
- Outstanding organizational skills and a proven self-starter;
- Strong quantitative skills; Microsoft Excel modelling experience required, familiarity with VBA preferred;
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to work as part of a team;
- Previous experience as a member of a capital markets or related group at a leading investment bank is preferred; experience in executing private or highly structured equity, PIPE and/or debt transactions preferred;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal);
- Ability and willingness to interact daily with deal team members across a wide array of internal teams;
- Mastery of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.; and
- Able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation and must be able to work independently, across a variety of responsibilities and at a fast pace.
