About the Role
This role is responsible for operating community-based retinal screening clinics across the Waitematā region. It would suit someone with an in-depth understanding of retinal screening and its value in the care of people with diabetes.
Operate retinal imaging equipment across various clinical locations.
Capture high-quality retinal images for grading and follow-up.
Collaborate with clinical, admin, and IT teams to ensure patient data integrity.
Maintain internal quality assurance (QA) processes to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
Grade images promptly and ensure timely generation of results and referrals
Key Responsibilities
Capture and record retinal images for diabetic patients.
Manage patient comfort, clinic flow, and explain procedures clearly.
Troubleshoot and maintain camera software, hardware, and IT systems.
Grade retinal images and refer to ophthalmologists as required.
Coordinate timely result delivery to GPs, specialists, and patients.
What You Bring
You're a people person, confident working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Compassion, empathy, and professionalism are vital, along with the ability to work independently across a variety of clinic locations.
Essential:
Experience with digital imaging in a healthcare setting.
Familiarity with diabetes
Excellent interpersonal skills: empathy, patience, and clear communication.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Full NZ driver's licence; comfortable driving a van to clinic locations.
Physically able to lift and move specialized equipment safely.
Strong technical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability.
Proficient with Microsoft products (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Word).
Excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
Previous experience in diabetic eye screening, ophthalmic photography, optometry, or nursing.
Familiar with using patient management systems.
Knowledge of health information privacy code.
Employment Details
Permanent, full-time role.
Occasional Saturday shift with time in lieu provided.
Clinics based across the Waitematā region, travel expected (van provided).
Participation in rotating clinic locations and rosters.
