About the RoleAs our Kiwifruit Machine Operator / Sizer Technician, you’ll be responsible for operating and optimising
Global Scan and InVision grading systems, along with NIR technology, to maximise throughput, minimise fruit loss, and ensure premium quality standards are consistently achieved.
This role has a strong
systems and computer-based focus, requiring confidence working with grading software, data inputs, and system optimisation.
During harvest, you’ll report to the Packhouse Manager. Outside of harvest, you’ll support the Maintenance Manager with servicing, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience is highly desirable — particularly with
InVision and Global Scan — but not essential. If you’re technically minded, confident with computers, and eager to learn, we’ll support your development.
Key ResponsibilitiesGrading Technology & System Optimisation• Operate and optimise
InVision and Global Scan grading systems to achieve quality and throughput targets.
• Create, manage, and maintain grading maps/articles for different fruit varieties.
• Analyse system data to fine-tune grading performance and improve accuracy.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate
NIR technology.
• Run both MAF and Tomra sizers in line with pack plans and specifications.
• Minimise fruit loss while maximising efficiency and grading precision.
• Achieve IFSL and regional pack plan targets.
Machinery & Performance• Ensure grading and sizer machinery are operating at peak performance.
• Follow start-up procedures and monitor fruit flow and system outputs.
• Maintain and update SWP/SOP documentation for grading and sizer systems.
• Train and support team members on grading software and machinery operation.
• Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintenance & Off-Season Support• Assist with planned seasonal maintenance programmes.
• Conduct inspections to ensure reliability and safety compliance.
• Support preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Contribute to system upgrades and process improvements.
What Success Looks Like• Minimal fruit loss and maximised pack-out rates
• Accurate, consistent grading performance
• Strong utilisation of InVision and Global Scan capabilities
• Pack plan targets achieved within required timeframes
• No preventable machinery or system failures
• Well-maintained, calibrated, and optimised grading systems
What You’ll Bring• Strong computer skills and confidence working with
grading software and data systems• Experience with
InVision and/or Global Scan (preferred but not essential)
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• High attention to detail and quality focus
• Ability to interpret data and adjust system settings accordingly
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
