Canon Street Optometrists – Timaru
Canon Street Optometrists are looking for an Optical Assistant to join our team in Timaru. You’ll support our optometrists, dispensing opticians, and patients in a welcoming environment while helping deliver high-quality eye care.
Key Responsibilities
• Greet patients and manage appointments
• Assist with frame repairs and basic adjustments
• Maintain frame displays, manage inventory, and assist with wholesale orders while ensuring a tidy and appealing optical area
• Perform basic ancillary testing such as contact lens teaches and visual field testing
• Maintain a clean and organised practice environment, including clinical rooms, reception areas, and shared spaces
• Provide friendly customer service and work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth patient flow
Requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with a diverse range of patients, including children and older adults
• Experience in optical or reception roles preferred but not essential (full training provided)
• Reliable, organised, and able to thrive in a busy clinic environment
• Right to work in New Zealand
