About The Role:

Join our Business Intelligence team as a Data Scientist and help turn data into meaningful insights that shape how we operate and make decisions across Tuatahi. Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence, you will work across a wide range of data sets to design and deliver advanced analytics and predictive models that support forecasting, optimisation, and smarter decision-making.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with BI team members, product owners, and business stakeholders to understand problems and deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions. You will build, deploy, and monitor models where they create real value, and ensure they are robust, explainable, and aligned with governance requirements.

Here’s what you can expect in your day-to-day:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into data science solutions

  • Design, build, and validate predictive and machine learning models

  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights

  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Support the integration of models and insights into business processes and reporting

  • Monitor model performance and continuously improve outputs over time

  • Contribute to building strong data science and analytics practices across the organisation

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 10+ years’ experience in data science and advanced analytics

  • Strong experience with SQL, R, Power BI, and PySpark, including building models, dashboards, and data pipelines

  • Hands-on experience applying AI and machine learning techniques in a commercial environment

  • Proven experience developing and maintaining models in production

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex, large-scale datasets

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • A proactive, curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
