Mō te tūnga | About the role
As a Senior Digital Channels Advisor, you’ll play a key role in shaping NZDF’s online presence, delivering timely, trusted and engaging content across digital platforms. Working at the centre of Defence Public Affairs, you’ll combine strategy, creativity and insight to ensure NZDF’s stories connect with audiences and reflect the organisation’s people, purpose and priorities.
In this role you will:
Plan, create and publish content across social media and web platforms.
Contribute to digital channel strategy and provide expert advice on best practice.
Moderate online conversations and manage community engagement.
Analyse performance data and optimise content to improve reach and user experience.
Collaborate across Defence Public Affairs and the wider Navy, Army and Air Force to source and develop stories.
Support key initiatives, including NZDF’s storytelling platforms and campaigns.
Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is a requirement to take part in an after-hours monitoring and moderation roster, for which you will be compensated.

We are looking for an experienced digital professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly to changing priorities. You’re a strong communicator who can tailor content across formats and confidently engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will also bring:
5+ years’ experience in corporate digital channel management, digital public affairs or similar.
Strong experience across social media platforms and website content management.
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and format for different audiences.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
Confidence using analytics and insights to inform content decisions.
Understanding of accessibility standards and SEO best practice.

The salary band for this role starts at $88,217 and has a midpoint of $97,389, inclusive of the 4% employer superannuation contribution

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here’s what you need to know:
Higher Level Security Clearance
You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
